Cristina Ulander
“My paintings speak for themselves really, but I enjoy the surreal edge of life, of finding something where it is least expected.

Clouds and sky, things you see every day, and landscapes are the things that inspire me. Nature, it’s beautiful and strange at the same time.

Water, the sea, and the fish it in are also something I have painted a lot, fish are so comical, and so pretty, and when you have hundreds of them together, they are magical.”
Cristina initially studied as a textile artist at the Taunton Art College before choosing to become a painter.

Her training helps to explain her fascination with the use of repeated motifs which she has successfully adapted to her large-scale canvases.

A lover of nature, Cristina is inspired by the two great elements of sea and sky and finds that the rhythms and patterns of the natural world have found a place in her paintings. Her paintings pulse with the heartbeat of the flying birds and swimming fish which populate her canvases.

She has been widely exhibited in Britain and in Europe.
